Problem Solving Boot Camp

Where do I begin? This is often the hardest part of problem solving. Discovering how to begin. Relief often comes not with the solution, but simply first with identification of the problem. From there, we can then think logically and systematically about what to do. Then comes implementation. This allows us to try out our solutions and then decide if they work or not. Problem SOLVED!

In this fun, exciting and challenging program, we invite students to participate in our 3-Week problem solving boot camp. Every day (Monday to Friday) for 2 hours per day, where we focus on training the brain to become expert at spotting and solving problems.

Hour #1 students will be challenged by the “Weekly problem focus”

Week 1- Identification
Week 2- Solution
Week 3- Implementation

Hour #2 students will be involved with:

Problem solving games
Brain training activities that will strengthen the areas that allow them to become fluid and flexible thinkers and problem solvers.

This program is helpful for students with and without special needs of all ages. We run it all year round as an after-school support program as well as during the summer. Students must be assessed via parent interview to determine eligibility for entrance into this program. It is NOT open enrollment and spaces are limited.

How can I get my child an intensive?

It all begins with evaluation. We first have to evaluate to determine if your child is a candidate for our programs and how we could help. To be effective, we must identify where in the brain the breakdown is occurring therefore an evaluation is imperative. Please contact our intake coordinator at clientcare@therapeeds.com to discuss your child’s case.
Can I start my intensive at any time?
Once we determine that an intensive is an appropriate intervention, we then move forward to create a program that is highly individualized and specific to your child and family’s needs.

We take into consideration:
1. Specific length of time needed (3 or 6 weeks)
2. Specific combination of interventions/components (services to be provided in the intensive)
3. Specific clinical team that will be the best fit your child’s needs and personality
Because of this, we provide you with dates of when that ‘just right’ combination is available for your family. Sometimes that might mean a waiting period, but please know that this is necessary for us to offer the absolute best service that will support the changes that you want for your child and family.

We work our hardest to accommodate family’s request for dates and times of intensives, however your child’s clinical needs are our primary focus and we will always consider those first.
What if my child is in school?

Our intensive program is year-round, and we offer programming throughout the day. When we make recommendations for an intensive program, we take into consideration your child’s functional status in school. If it is NOT necessary, we DO NOT recommend a child being pulled from school for an intensive. Those are students who typically come to us in afternoons or during school vacation time.

When it is necessary, both parents and the school often agree that the intensive would be helpful to the child to support greater function in school. In those cases, we are happy to guide and support your family.
