The Missing Pieces
An intermediate to advanced level 2-day conference designed for experienced therapists to increase their ability to practically implement sensory strategies into their everyday treatment of the higher-functioning/subtle sensory processing dysfunction. Many therapists working with these clients are making minimal gains solely because these dysfunctions go undetected and are not treated effectively. Learn PRACTICAL, hands-on, specific techniques focusing on the recognition and treatment of sensory discrimination disorders. These strategies will improve skill acquisition and increase the rate of progress, resulting in notable functional outcomes in your treatment session.
A must do conference for the clinician working with Developmental Delays, Learning Disabilities, motor planning deficits, sequencing and organization deficits and executive function dysfunctions.
Who Should Attend?
Experienced Occupational and Physical Therapists who are interested in learning PRACTICAL, hands-on, specific techniques focusing on the recognition and treatment of more subtle/ higher functioning clients with sensory processing disorders.
At the completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
Identify the indicators of a discrimination dysfunction, using clinical observation skills, and indicate how this affects their specific discipline.
Demonstrate the use of specific manual treatment approaches to address sensory integration dysfunction.
Identify appropriate sensory-based home and classroom strategies to promote ease and efficiency in carry-over of treatment strategies for parents and teachers.
Demonstrate the ability to write measurable, functional outcomes as a result of appropriate identification of dysfunctions and treatment strategies for each client.
Continuing Education Credits:
A certificate of completion issued at the end of the course for 14 contact hours.
