More Sense

    An advanced level, experiential workshop that allows clinicians to spend the day inmersed in case studies, problem solving, clinical reasoning, documentation , goal setting and treatment of sensory dysfunctions, with special focus on dyspraxia. This one day seminar will improve and advance your ability to assess and treat all levels of sensory dysfunction.

    Topics include: Sensory diet, music/listening programs, auditory processing dysfunction, higher-level discrimination disorders, motor planning and praxis. Participants are also encouraged to bring videotapes or write profiles of clients for case studies.

    Please call to make arrangements. Class sizes are kept small, to ensure a more personal and efficient learning experience.

 

Schedule:

    • As an advanced level seminar that has extremely limited seating, we only offer this to closed groups by special invitation.
    • Please call our office at 800-899-8832 if your facility is interested in hosting this seminar for its staff.

 

Requirements:

    Prior attendance at Practical Sense in SI - Part 1 or at least 5-Years of experience working with SI.

 

What You Will Learn?

    At the completion of this course, you will be able to:

    1. Learn to identify higher-level neurological processes of auditory processing and discrimination disorders.
    2. Treatment for higher-level self-regulation dysfunction.
    3. Learn how and why to integrate use of music into your session for a more accelerated response to treatment.
    4. Learn when and how to progress treatment strategies and goals.
    5. Learn to systematically examine presented case studies to detect sensory dysfunction.
    6. Design individualized treatment approaches as well as write measurable goals of functional outcomes.

 

Continuing Education Credits:

    • A Certificate of Completion issued at the end of the course for 7 contact hours.
    • 0.7 CEUs awarded by NYSCEPT & AOTA (Approved Provider). (The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA.)

 

Attire:

    Please wear comfortable, loose clothing and bring a mat or large towel for floor work.
