Making the Transition to a More Secure Future

    A two-day, entry level OT/PT workshop for therapists new to pediatrics, returning to the field, transitioning from another area or those with experience who may need a refresher on current trends in pediatric practice. Contents are also applicable to COTA’s, PTA’s, Special educators and administrators.  In this intensive two-day course, you will learn everything you need to know to begin to effectively treat children in the home, school and clinical settings.

    

Who Should Attend?

    Occupational and Physical Therapists, COTA’s, PTA’s, Special Educators and Administrators.

    

What You Will Learn?

    At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    1. Identify components of normal development through clinical observation.
    2. Identify dysfunctional components of typical pediatric diagnosis and classify diagnosis in the pediatric population and appropriate treatment options.
    3. Identify the appropriate testing tools and demonstrate through video observation the ability to evaluate the pediatric client.
    4. Identify and prioritize the best treatment options for the pediatric client.
    5. Identify the foundational principles of sensory integration disorders and treatments.
    6. Demonstrate the ability to assess and identify appropriate treatment options through video analysis.

 

Continuing Education Credits:

    • A certificate of completion issued at the end of the course for 15 contact hours.
    • 1.5 CEUs awarded by NYSCEPT & AOTA (Approved Provider). (The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA.)

      Janessa Rick is a licensed Physical Therapist who has practiced alternative bodywork and healing for more than 20 years and has developed the RCK Method, Re-Creating Kinesthetics based on her extensive background in, alternative healing and holistic body work.

How to conduct effective developmental OT and PT evaluations using a wide variety of cases as illustrations.

The discussion will include major testing tools that are available for use in doing the evaluation.
